High Growth Ventures

Hello! I'm Barry. I love building and growing new businesses.

I've worked with startups that are scaling rapidly, corporates that aspire to launch new high-growth business units, and founders who want to build rigour and structure around their ventures.

Prior to my tech start-up life, I was a furtive entrepreneur in the corporate world, firstly in advertising at Ogilvy & Mather then in consulting at Bain & Company.

In 2013 I joined EdTech pioneer Decoded as COO, leading growth from 7 people in a cupboard to a global team of over 100 in three years, scaling through international expansion to New York, Sydney and Amsterdam.

More recently I founded FT Strategies, a startup within the Financial Times that scales FT technologies and expertise in digital transformation, revenue optimisation and subscriptions to other media organisations. This helps them build sustainable revenues from digital content that will ensure a future for journalism and fight fake news.

I'm also a co-founder of Series Q, a non-profit with a mission to empower LGBT entrepreneurs; and sit on an advisory board at London Business School.

I'm a regular speaker at conferences including Cannes Lions, London Tech Week and SXSW; and hold an MBA from Columbia Business School where I won a full-tuition fellowship.
